Featuring greatly varying topography, from mountains, to ancient indigenous forests, to rocky coastline, the Garden Route is ideal for off-road 4X4 exploration. Aside from the many informal 4X4 trails scattered throughout the Garden Route, there are several formal day routes not too far from Hog Hollow Country Lodge, including:

The Knysna Forest 4X4 Trail

Whilst challenging, this route is not technically difficult, making this a fairly relaxing way to spend a few hours.
Immerse yourself in the wonders of the Knysna Forest, including ancient Yellowwood and Stinkwood trees, whilst listening to the calls of the huge variety of local birdlife. I you're lucky you may spot the rare and illusive Knysna Elephant.
You can choose between self-drive or guided options.
Entrance to the trails is at The Garden of Eden, 25 minutes drive west of Hog Hollow Country Lodge.

Duiwelsberg 4x4 Trail

Just past the Montagu Pass outside George, 1 hour's drive west of Hog Hollow Country Lodge, this easy-to-drive trail takes you along the trade route between the coast and Langkloof. Imagine the ox wagons making their way through this difficult terrain.
Be sure to start out early in the day, as mist later in the day may obscure the stunning vistas.
There is a guided option available.
